Menopause is considered a passage for women. But many of my patients have unanswered questions about what they experience as they go through it. Unnecessary stigmas prevent us from discussing it openly with doctors, family, and friends, and our understanding of the changes happening in our bodies can be limited as a result.
As a practitioner, it is my responsibility to create a safe space for my patients to feel comfortable discussing all symptoms. While women often feel that menopausal symptoms are embarrassing, the reality is that if we aren’t talking about symptoms, underlying issues remain untreated, and quality of life decreases. No topic is off the table in my practice.
Women spend 30-40% of their lives in menopause (during the menopause transition and after). For some, menopausal symptoms can last ten years or longer. The good news is there are many treatments that can help alleviate these symptoms. My goal is to empower you to not only survive menopause but thrive.
What is the definition of menopause? How do I identify symptoms? What non-prescription therapies can I use? And when do medicines make sense to help manage my transition?
I recently had the opportunity to present on these questions and more at a Menopause: Surviving & Thriving (Before, During, and After!) event at Breathe Body & Mind yoga studio. Watch the video recording here, and as always don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.
