Dr. Eileen West is board certified as an internal medicine physician and is among the few trained women’s health consultants in the D.C area. She was the director of the Inova Women’s Comprehensive Health Center before setting out to deliver her own brand of personalized care for women. Dr. West was director of internal medicine women’s health at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City from 2002-2015. She has held faculty appointments at Tulane University, the University of Oklahoma, and most recently at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Scope of Practice

In addition to regular internal medicine practice issues such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, sinus problems, asthma, and performing annual physicals, Dr. West is an internal medicine physician, with specialties in cardiovascular disease prevention in women, osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment, menopause management, routine gynecologic exams and breast cancer risk assessment. She is also a certified clinical densitometrist who has interpreted thousands of bone density tests.

Dr. West chose to become a concierge medicine doctor with an internal medicine practice because she loves solving her patients’ medical problems. Her goal is to establish long-term relationships, help keep patients healthy, and see them through illness when it occurs. She believes in the benefits of concierge patient care practice and her affiliation with Ms. Medicine gives her the opportunity to provide the best possible personalized care for her patients.

Education

Following graduation from Yale University with Bachelor of Arts, Dr. West obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1998. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Tulane University and a preceptorship in office gynecology at the Louisiana State University in New Orleans.

Experience

Dr. West is a dedicated clinician educator. She has taught residents and medical students throughout her career, serving as an associate program director of the University of Oklahoma Internal Medicine Residency Program, a clinical preceptor for students and numerous graduating residents at Tulane, OU and Inova/VCU, and on the Resident Clinical Competency Committees for both the University of Oklahoma and Inova Fairfax Hospital.
